Elizabeth Chaney, Founder
“When you see in a customer’s eyes the look they get when they really understand that we care about their dogs just the way they do – when they really know that it’s true – well that’s a feeling that’s hard to describe. It’s overwhelming, it’s heartwarming. It’s the combination of immense trust and honorable service that makes us so proud of what we do. And it drives us to constantly look for ways to improve.” ~Elizabeth Chaney
Elizabeth Chaney has had a passion for dogs since she was a child. In fact, her most memorable high-school class presentation was “How to Teach a Dog to Sit, Stay and Down.” She carried this passion through college, where she extended scientific knowledge gleaned through a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware into specific expertise in canines. Elizabeth started her own canine training business in 1999. From a simple outdoor training field surrounded by soybeans and corn, her business evolved into the comprehensive pet care facility that, today, is a 16,000 square foot facility that offers top quality services for canines and felines. Open for business in March 2003, Perfect Pet Resort has since served thousands of pets and their owners from the Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis metropolitan areas.
A certified handler, instructor and evaluator for the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue team, Virginia Task Force 1, Elizabeth trained her canine partners Harpo, Ventoux, and Hugo for national and international deployment to assist in disasters. Together with her live and human remains detection canines, Elizabeth has been deployed to assist in the aftermath of hurricanes, local building collapses, and the mudslides in Washington State. In January 2016, she was covered in the Wall Street Journal alongside her working dog, Ventoux, for their rescue work in Nepal after the 2015 earthquakes.
